A Timeline of St Clement Danes Church

9th Century
The original church is believed to have been founded by Danish settlers.
1067
The church is mentioned in the Domesday Book, indicating its importance during the Norman period.
1680

The current structure is designed by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London.

1941
The church is severely damaged during the Blitz of World War II.
1958

Rebuilt by the Royal Air Force, it is rededicated as the Central Church of the RAF.

2007

Celebrated its 50th anniversary of rededication with a series of special services and events.

Present Day

Continues to serve as a place of worship and a memorial to those who have served in the RAF.
